MUNDP

Hey there!

It's been a long time since the last time I've written and I know that you missed me. But let me say; You didn't miss anything! Some boring time which won't even worth writing. But this week-end our school had it's 8th annual Model United Nations Development Programme Conference. We, the MUN club of The Koc School tried to do our best and had a lot of fun in our school during Friday, Suturday and Sunday.

What is UNDP?

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network.The UNDP is an executive board within the United Nations General Assembly. The UNDP Administrator is the third highest ranking member of the United Nations after the United Nations Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General.

Sooo MUNDP is the model of this. :)))

We worked really hard and disscuss on these topics;

Climate Refugees

HIV Treatment In South Africa

Promoting New Ideas To The Schools In India

All of the delegates represented one of the United Nations Agency's or some countries which are involved in the current situation. And I was the delegate of European Union on the topic of Climate Refugees. We, the 24 delegates in the committee one, discussed to find new solutions to the topic of climate refugees. That is something that I'm gonna explain on my second post.

What I want to say is that we, the Koc MUN students tried to act like the real delegates in the United Nations. We dressed like them and we talked in a formal language. Also we disscussed issues in English which I believe improved our public talking skills.

Also another significance of our conference was that unlike any other MUN conference, we didn't had a chance to study for it. But our lovely school helped us by inviting some facilitators who are experts on each of the topic and they gave us info's and answered to our questions.

I met lots of new people from HEV, Yüzyıl Işıl, Robert College, German School and even our own school. I had lots of fun with lots of different kinds of people. I want to congratulate our Executive Board who are a bunch of Koc School students (most of them are 11th graders) who worked really hard on the conference. There were some missing parts but I know that next year with us and lots of other participants, we will have a better conference !!!

This is it for today and I must tell you; If you are not in the MUN club but you want to meet new people, discuss on the world issues and if you are into politics; you SHOULD join next year !!!

Lot's of love,

xoxox.
